The Dark King, Chapter 1: The Dark King Arrives

He shoved the last horse into its stall just as the sun rose above the horizon.

"Good work Fisk," said the horse keeper as he tossed him a coin.

Fisk grinned and walked towards his shabby little stone house. It wasn't much, but he was lucky he could even afford a house. He hadn't even gone to school. He did small jobs around the kingdom for a living. The only companion he had was an old beagle. He needed so much money he worked his back out over night. He took a small food bowl, threw in a few leftovers and dropped it in front of the beagle. He went outside for a breath of fresh air and noticed something odd.

It was two in the morning and the sky was pure black with the moon hanging in the sky. Then over the hills he noticed a large black stallion galloping up the hills with a large man in pitch black armor sitting on top. The man wore a large black cape across his back and had pure black eyes. His stallion galloped up the hill while his rider waved a blood red flag in the air. He took a torch out of the black bag slung over his shoulder and struck it with a match. He thrust the torch at a nearby crop and it burst into flames. Everyone started screaming and running.

The dark rider withdrew a long dark sword and struck a pedestrian running by. Instead of instantly dying, the pedestrian's eyes turned pure black. The pedestrian shouted "Hail the mighty Dark King!" The dark rider withdrew a bow and arrow and started shooting at everyone he could reach. Before he knew it, helpless people everywhere were strutting around with pitch black eyes.

Fisk ran into his house and locked the door. He jumped through a trap door to his basement and quickly hid behind a broken-down wagon. Above he heard footsteps behind his door and the door came crashing down.

The dark man kicked over furniture searching for life that wasn't dark. He slashed the trap door open and leaped in. Fisk could almost hear the raspy breath of the dark man. Then the dark man said, "Ahh, there's nothin' here, I'll go search the castle and kill the king!"

Fisk gasped a breath and slumped down.
